Spring is everywhere! In late april, most lifts had already closed down. But a small group of snowboard-enthusiasts couldn’t resist to use the snow that still covered most of the mountains. Supported by Blue Tomato, they hosted a spring session right below the parking lot of the Dachstein glacier at “Eagle Mountain” with a Live DJ, BBQ, Beer and of course lots of shredding! They built a kicker, a corner and two raillines and there were filmers and photographers to capture the madness that was going on.

After his injury, Blue Tomato team rider Mathias Weißenbacher is back on his board! Apart from some news, he also shows us a short video edit!
I’ m finally back on board Yihhaa! So yeah after I got back from France/rehab last week, which was pretty good (they did a awesome job there), I went straight up the mountain for getting the feeling back on my board/leg!
And yeah it went well! I also did a little webisode back on board clip filmed by Thomas Kesselbacher… check it out!
Unsere Blue Tomato Rookies Max und Tobi Grünwald erzählen von ihren Reisen und Stories der letzten Wochen! Dazu gibt es ein paar traumhafte Bilder!
Im Januar waren wir zwar dauernd unterwegs, aber viele Contests wurden verschoben. Also hatten wir mehr Zeit für den traumhaften Powder.
Demnächst sind wir dort sicherer unterwegs, dank ABS-Rucksäcke,juhu. Tobi wurde bei der Junior Open Rail Jam in Laax 2ter. Max wollte an den GromsOpen in Mayrhofen teilnehmen.Aber wegen den überraschend vielen Neuschnee- mengen wurde dies eine lustige Railsession.Den Rest des Tages steckte Max brusttief im Powder. Zu Hause auf der Zugspitze erlebten wir unglaubliche Wächten,Tiefschnee bis zur Hüfte und den Bau von Powderkickern.

gefilmt……. Unser Dorfweiher verlockte uns zu sehr,um der Mama zu folgen!!! Ispo war cool.Viele Sponsoren,aber auch Freunde aus der ganzen Welt treffen. Beim Stairsetbattle durften wir alters/ versicherungsbedingt nicht starten,laut Ispo. Aber die Miniramp war zum Glück den halben Tag lang für uns befahrbar.
Zusammen haben wir uns mit einem Freund zusammen für Wängl Tängl angemeldet und haben auch eine Facebook Seite erstellt: “BoarderBoys”. Dort könnt ihr auch unser Video checken!
Blue Tomato Team Rider Ville Uotila just started to film at some urban spots:
“After doing some comps I finally got the chance to start film. I’m filming with my buddy Juuso Laivisto this year and we wanna film all the urban stuff somewhere in Finland this year. We really had pretty strong start already. Here’s a photo from our first spot. It was about 6 meters drop from the rail. A lot of pain but we both got a few good ones and we both were stoked after the day.”
Bei den ersten Youth Olympic Games 2012 in Innsbruck gelang Georgi ein guter 13. Platz. Nach langer Vorbereitung schaffte er die Qualifikation und kam ins Finale, indem es dann leider nicht fürs Treppchen reichte!
Viktor hingegen schaffte es beim Plan P Contest nicht nur aufs Podest (ein sagenhafter 1. Platz), er gewann sogar noch den Preis für den “Best Trick” mit einem Frontflip out of the Poljam.
Dadurch sicherte er sich einen Platz in den Finals beim Pleasure Jam im nächsten Jahr.
Des weiteren war Viktor auch beim TTR O’Neill Evolution in Davos mit dabei und obwohl “nur” ein 62. Platz dabei rauskam, qualifizierte er sich für die TTR Championchips in Oslo!
Als nächster Stop wird dann das Burton European Open in Laax anvisiert, wo er in der Disziplin Slopestyle an den Start gehen wird!
On January the 15th 2012 the Blue Tomato Kings Park has been flooded by flashlights! The reason for it has been the 1st Blue Tomato Shooting Time “Rock the Kingdom”! No freestyle addict didn’t let this opportunity let go and showed their best tricks at beautiful bluebird! Professional photographers were there and shot amazing pics!

Unsere Blue Tomato Rookies Tobi und Max Gründwald sind fleißig unterwegs! Während Max sich momentan lieber dem Powdern auf der Zugspitze widmet, fuhr Tobi ein klasse Ergebnis beim Laax Open Rail Contest ein: Ein sensationeller 2. Platz!
Dieser Rail Contest war eigentlich als “Junior Open” angedacht, jedoch waren enorme Schneemassen Schuld daran, dass der Contest weiter
runter ins Tal verlegt werden musste und in Folge dessen als Rail Contest abgehalten wurde. Verständlich, da man bei Windeschwindigkeiten über 100 km/h lieber nicht in der Gondel umher gefegt wird….
Die meisten Starter (82 von 120) waren auch nicht enttäuscht, als der Pipe-Contest zur Jib-Session an einem Tag umgemodelt wurde! Gejudged wurde nach dem True Overall Prinzip – der Gesamteindruck aller gezeigten Tricks wurde gewertet, die Punkte zählen sowohl als Swiss Snowboard Points als auch für das TTR Ranking.
Tobi Grünwald, der sich bei den unter 13-Jährigen nur Samuel Camenzind (SUI) geschlagen geben musste, gelang ein hervorragender 2. Platz! Ride on!
Incredible!! Our Blue Tomato team rider and freeski rookie Lisi Gram (15) got 1st in halfepipe at the first Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck!
Our rider and tyrolean native Elisabeth Gram has won Austria’s first Gold Medal of the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in the Women’s Ski Halfpipe Final on Sunday.
After a suprising 1st place in the qualification where she has already dominated her competititors, she amassed 84.75 points to win the Gold in front of a delighted crowd.
All the time Lisi looked natural and smooth on her way to the Gold as she linked a straight-edge safety with a 540, then finished with her signature hand-plant.
“It’s my special trick,” Lisi said of her hand-plant. “That’s my trick and if I do it everyone knows, ‘Yeah that’s Lizzy’.”
As she had hip pain beacause of a bail she had to pull herself together. ” I was a bit nervous, but relaxed, “she admitted at the finish and could not realize their succes after the run, “but it’s mega cool.”
Many fans from her homestown, including parents and friends, have seen Lisi in a unknown role, as she had to answer so many interview questions, “quite unusual,” admitted the winner.
After this, she celebrated her triumph in a small group. Besides, it was another premiere too: the first time freestyle skiing in the halfpipe as an Olympic sport!
