Last weekend the Landiwiese in Zürich was the spot where all freestyle fans gathered when Teamrider Halldor Helgason won the snowboard competition!
On Friday night the weekend got started with the Riders Welcome Night at Sihl City! A great party; people were relaxed, the riders were motivated and Mambo Kurt and Drifter&Mortenson brought some sweet beats! But theres no rest for the wicked, the next morning we got up early because at 11am freestyle.ch 2011 kicked off with a bang!
Till 1pm the labelarea was the main interest of the crowd. There was a lot of action at the Blue Tomato tent! We entertained  with great goodies and the fwheel of fortune was spinning all day long!

Around 1pm the qualis started and it was time for the riders show if they had what it takes to win the freestyle.ch 2011! The Blue Tomato Teamriders Tobi Grünwald and Max Grünwald were on site shredding up the various skateramps!

As the sun started setting you could hear the sweet sound of Lil Jon busting out a wicked live performing! Thanks to open-air Frauenfeld, because he knew how to motivate the crowd for the big Crossoversession!
At 10pm the real party got started at Härterei, the biggest party of the weekend and it was definately worth a visit! On two floors the DJs were heating up the air and the crowd was dancing all night long till the morning came!

On Sunday afternoon the finals started:

From the snowboarders it was Blue Tomato Teamrider Halldor Helgason who dominated! He inspired the crowd and the judges with a Frontside Double Cork 1080! This trick you land almost blind which is why it´s so difficult, but Halldor carried it out with near perfect execution and had enough style to become the freestyle.ch winner of 2011!! On second place was Seppe Smits and third Ståle Sandbech.

In Freeski the swiss ruled the ramp! Elias Ambühl won the Freeski contest after placing second for two consecutive years, and directly behind  him in second place this year was the 16 year old Kai Mahler!

In the FMX and the Skate disciplines the role models quickly took the lead! FMX legend, spanish Dany Torres won! Tom Pagès placed second and Petr Pilat third!

In skateboarding it was Canadian Pierre-Luc Gagnon who won, as expected! Rony Gomes took second place and Adam Taylor third!

Honestly, it was an amazing weekend with a lot of action and a lot of partying! However the planning for the freestyle.ch goes on and the date for 2012 is already set to 23. and 24. September! And Blue Tomato will be there for sure!

Blue Tomato Team Rider Halldor Helgason at the Nike Vapen Session!

Each year, the Nike team riders make a team shoot late in the season to let this fade away perfectly. This time the beautiful Strandafjellet in Norway was chosen as a location.

Halldor and the crew toured a week around the country – so a lot of fun and action is guaranteed! In addition, a great opportunity, the new Nike Vapen snowboard boot to test!
Get ready for: Gjermund Braaten, Halldor Helgason, Sage Kotsenburg, Mason Aguirre, Silje Norendal, Gerome Mathieu, Ethan Morgan, Jamie Nicholls, Kevin Backstrom, Matt Ladley, Jan Scherrer, Spencer O’Brien, Ellery Hollingsworth, Gigi Rüf, Nicolas Müller.

Blue Tomato Teamrider Halldor Helgason Dritter beim AK Extreme Festival in Island!

Nach einer sechs jährigen Pause kehrte letztes Wochenende endlich das legendäre AK Extreme (AKX) Festival nach Akureyri, Island, zum vierten Mal in seiner Geschichte, vom 7. Bis 10.April zurück. Zurück für die Musik, zurück fürs Snowboarden, zurück für die Parties, zurück für euch!

AKX ist ein Snowboard und Musik Festival mit dem Ziel ein Event zu schaffen, bei dem sich die Freude am Snowboarden mit guter Musik und endlosen Partys vereinen kann. Der Event besteht aus verschiedenen Snowboard Contests mit dem Container jump als absolutes Highlight.

Beim AKX Container jump kämpften Pro-Snowboarder wie die Blue Tomato Teamrider Eiki und Halldor Helgason oder Gulli Gudmundsson, plus 15 andere namenshafte Snowboarder aus Island, um den AKX Titel.

Halldor behauptete, dass der Container jump einer der zweifelhaftesten, aber auch einer der sicksten Contests bei weitem sei. Vielleicht war auch gerade das der Grund für die große Masse an jubelnden Zuschauern.

Halldor erreichte den ausgezeichneten dritten Platz mit einem nicht perfekt gelandeten bs cork. Aufgrund von Eiki’s Schulterverletzung übernahm er nur die Rolle eines Judges.

Coole Partys und Konzerte wurden von Donnerstag bis Samstag gegeben, einschließlich den Rockern Agent Fresco, die Hip-Hopper Forgotten Lores und der Metal Band Endless Dark.

„Das Wiederaufleben dieses Events und das positive Feedback hat uns mit so viel Energie und Ideen bereichert, dass ihr euch besser vor AKX 2012 hütet!“, sagte Geiri, Marketing Manager bei Nikita Clothing und Event Organisator.

Third place for Blue Tomato teamrider Halldor Helgason at AK Extreme festival in Iceland!

After a six year break, the legendary AK Extreme (AKX) festival finally returned to Akureyri, Iceland, for the fourth time in its history from 7th to 10th April. Back for the music, back for the snowboarding, back for the parties and back for you!

AKX is a snowboard and music festival with the goal to create an event that is about the joys of snowboarding, mixed with good music and endless parties! The schedule included a mix of snowboard events with the highlight being the infamous container jump.

The AKX container jump saw pro snowboarders like the Blue Tomato teamriders Eiki and Halldor Helgason or Gulli Gudmundsson plus fifteen of Iceland‘s finest snowboarders fighting for the AKX title.

Halldor said that the AKX container jump is one of the sketchiest contests in snowboarding, but also one of the sickest by far. Maybe that’s why a crowd of 5000-6000 people turned out to watch and cheer.

Halldor achieved the great third place with a not quite landed bs doble cork. Due to Eiki‘s recovering from a shoulder injury, he took the role as one of the judges.

From Thursday to Saturday cool parties and concerts were given, including progressive rockers Agent Fresco, hip-hoppers Forgotten Lores and metal heads Endless Dark.

„Bringing AKX back and the positive response we have gotten has filled us up with so many ideas and energy that you better watch out for AKX 2012!“ says Geiri, Marketing Manager at Nikita Clothing and one of the event‘s organisers.

Am Samstag, dem 12. Februar 2011, saßen viele Interessierte im Blue Tomato Shop Wien und verfolgten  live auf unserer Leinwand das Air&Style in München. Dabei wurde es nie langweilig, zum einen weil der Contest super spannend war und unser Teamrider, Halldor Helgason, Dritter geworden ist. Und zum anderen, weil für ausreichend Sitzkissen zum chillen, gute Musik durch den  DJ Buzz (Waxos)  und Essen & Trinken  for Free gesorgt war.

Nike Air&Style live in the Blue Tomato Shop Vienna!

On Saturday, the 12th February 2011, a lot of interested people sat in the Blue Tomato Shop Vienna and saw live on our screen the Air&Style in Munich. Thereby it never got bored, on one hand because the contest wars really exciting and our team rider, Halldor Helgason, got the third place. And on the other hand because we had a lot of cushions for chilling, good music from the DJ Buzz (Waxos) and food & drinks for free!

Das wars, die ISPO ist vorbei und mit ihrem Ende haben wir auch wieder viele Eindrücke vom neuen Stuff für den Winter 2011/12 mitgenommen. Natürlich haben wir auch nach den neuesten Trends, Farben und Designs gefragt, mit dem wir euch hier exklusiv versorgen.
Herausstechend für uns war bei den Snowboards und Freeski vor allem das Design, das sehr detailverliebt und farbenprächtig geworden ist. Egal ob eine eigene Star-Wars-Serie und Girls-Boards mit Rosen auf der Oberfläche von Burton, oder Freeski von Scott mit Bildern aus deinem täglichen Leben – der Kreativität sind keine Grenzen gesetzt! Um die Schi und das Board dann nicht langweilig werden zu lassen, präsentieren sich natürlich auch die Bindungen dementsprechend bunt. Auch ganz simple Exemplare mit einfachem Design sieht man sehr oft – wie man es kombiniert, bleibt dann jedem selbst überlassen! In Punkto Technik ändert sich nicht viel – Rocker sind auch weiterhin sehr stark vertreten und Schischuhe zum In-den-Backofen-stellen um die optimale Passform zu finden werden auch weiterhin der Geheimtipp für die Freeskier bleiben. Eine Brand hat uns allerdings sehr positiv überrascht: Lobster Snowboards, die neu gegründete Marke der Blue Tomato Teamrider Eiki und Halldor Helgason. Wir sind uns sicher, dass man davon noch einiges hören wird.

That’s it! The ISPO is now over and with its end we were as well able to take many impressions from the new stuff for winter 2011/12 home with us. Of course we have also asked about the latest trends, colors and designs – and we now provide you with this knowledge!
Outstanding for us concerning snowboards and freeski is the design, which is quite into details and colorful. No matter if an own Star-Wars-series and boards for girls with roses on the upper side by Burton, or freeski by Scott with pictures from your daily life – creativity doesn’t show any borders! And for not letting the ski and boards be boring, of course also the bindings present themselves really colorful. Also really simple ones with plain are quite common – how you then combine it leaves to be decided by yourself. Concerning technique not many things are changing – rocker stay being really interesting and ski boots which you can put into the oven for finding your own perfect fit stay the insiders tip for all freeskiers. But there was one brand which made us be really astonished: Lobster Snowboards, the brand which was founded by the Blue Tomato Teamriders Eiki and Halldor Helgason a short time ago. We are sure that we will keep hearing many things about this brand in the future.

Geglückte Rückkehr des Air&Style nach München vor 16.500 Zuschauern im Olympiastadion München!

München, 12. Februar 2011 – Der Sieger des Nike 6.0 Air&Style Munich 2011 ist Peetu Piiroinen aus Finnland. Mit einem Cab 1260 Mute Grab und einem Frontblunt 270 (93,07 Punkte) im Superfinale der besten Vier sicherte er sich vor 16.500 begeisterten Zuschauern im Olympiastadion München den begehrten Ring of Glory. Zweiter bei diesem Swatch TTR World Tour 6-Star Event wurde Seppe Smits (BEL/91,6) vor unserem Blue Tomato Teamrider, Halldor Helgason (ISL/77,6), welcher die Finals mit einem sauberen Bs 1080 Double Cork und einem Switch 50-50 Halfcab Out am Stairset eröffnete und dann in Run 2 und 3 leider stürzte.

Der Kicker ist perfekt geshaped. Das warme Wetter und die hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit können dem Schnee nichts anhaben. Im Gegenteil: Sie sorgen für eine weiche und sichere Landung. Die Fahrer zeigten sich begeistert vom Zustand der Schanze.
