Last but not least: Daniel Walchhofer! He completes the Blue Tomato Freeski Team and he is the third new member! Like the others he had to bear up against our interview questions! But move on and look what he told us!

How did you get into skiing?
By my brother.

How long have you been standing on the ski?
At the age of 2 I learned skiing, and with 12 years I got my first freeski!

What is your favorite spot and why?
Absolut Park because the park is shaped well every day and you can shred kickers and rails in just one run.

What are you doing when you’re not on your skis?
I meet up with friends and have hobbies such as trampoline jumping, skating or slacklining

Your first pair of skis?
Stuff

What have you been the last trick?
Cork 900

Before the trick you had the utmost respect?
Switch 1080

Who is your idol?
Mike Hornbeck

Against whom would you like to compete?
Mike Hornbeck

The tyrolean Kaunertal rests in silent peace at the moment, but at the 14^th of October you will no longer hear the birds, instead you will listen to great beats and watch the riders! Yes, no longer waiting for the winter, because it´s starting at the Kaunertal glacier! This will be the 26st time the opening will take place. Blue Tomato will for sure, also be there and when you have a look at the time table of this year opening, you can feel it already: Oh yeah, this is going to be a great weekend!!

The Kaunertal opening is lasting for three days, beginning at Friday ending at Sunday. The pro contests are planned on the first two days Friday and Saturday, on Sunday there will be the amateur contest!

Last year it was a little riders heaven up at the glacier. What that means: sitting in a lounge chair in the sun, listening to the beats of the DJ and watching the pros at their show. But this year there will be another great action during the day, going in the park and not just watching the pros instead riding with the pros!! This will be the first time the fun park has opened for everybody pros and amateurs at the same time, the whole day!

But there is not only a great day program, you can be sure there will be parties you´ll never forget! In the evening the opening is going on in the valley, in Feichten. On Friday and Saturday there are live acts also!

Like every year the amateur contest is a big highlight of the weekend. Everybody can join this contest, doesn´t matter if you are a freeskier, snowboarder, a boy or a girl! What you need to do to join the contest? You just have to register at the riders office at Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning and then rock the Kaunertal glacier!!

The new super talent from Austria: Luca Tribondeau! We are happy to welcome him in our Blue Tomato Freeski Team! Despite being only 15 years, he has already achieved a lot!

How did you get into freeskiing?

Through my brother!

How long have you been standing on the ski?

Since I can remember

What’s your favorite riding spot and why?

Kitsteinhorn, because the park has always s good shape.

What are you doing, when you are not on the ski?

Either I’m in school, cutting a video or I practice. And in summer I’m on the Waterramp. (www.waterramp.info)

Double Cork 14 mute

Before what trick you had the utmost respect?

I had great respect fpr the Double Cork, but since I do Double Corks, I have respect for the first Triple!

No idea, that emerges from itself!

Blue Tomato Teamrider Armin Walcher erzählt von seinem Ski-Trip nach Sulden und Monte Rosa:

Der Winter ist ein fröhliches, abwechslungsreiches und launisches Geschöpf. Manchmal ist er fröhlich und lässt es rieseln, manchmal ist er traurig und lässt es regnen, doch oft schenkt er uns ein Lächeln und zeigt uns die Sonnlisl. Diesen Winter war er ein sehr launischer Partner, am Anfang schenkte er uns Hoffnung und viel Freude mit massig Schnee, doch dann hatte er Stimmungsschwankungen und zeigte uns die „kalte“ Schulter. Ein Bild geprägt von „Dürre“, kahlen Hängen, Boardshorttemperaturen und Regenmantelwetter.

Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und angenehmen Temperaturen trafen sich insgesamt 68 super motivierte Snowboarder und Freeskier am Wochenende vom 7. + 8. Mai im Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein für das große QParks Tour Finale.

In einem top-besetzten Starterfeld boten sich die Rider massive Head-to-Head Battles und kämpften nicht nur um den Tagessieg sondern auch um die Krone der gesamten QParks Tour! Der feine Freestyle Tag fand seinen gemütlichen Abschluss mit chilliger Musik und einem feinen Barbecue am Ramsau Beach, wo die Tages und Tour Sieger ihren Triumph feierten!

Obwohl die Contest-Tage für Snowboarder und Freeskier getrennt waren, hatten die Rider eines gemeinsam. Sie kamen schon früh in den Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein und bestaunten das Contest Set-Up, das von der Shapecrew rund um Parkdesigner Andy Röck perfekt präpariert wurde.

Dieses bestand aus einem Treebonk oder Down Rail, 2 Kicker Combos, einer Red Bull Funbox und der Special Wallride Endsection. Bei frühlingshaftem Wetter mit strahlendem Sonnenschein fanden sich immer mehr Rider und Zuschauer in der Blue Tomato Chill Area ein und warteten gespannt auf die Bekanntgabe der Head-to-Head Battles!

Am 21.04.2011 luden Blue Tomato und QPark zum Rookie Scouting im Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein. Dabei konnten junge Snowboard- und Freeskiitalente im Alter von 8 bis 14 Jahren ihr Können zeigen und wertvolle Tipps von Profis, wie Vanessa Waldenhofer, Paz Gruber und Flo Wieser , sammeln. Auch mit von der Patie waren die jungen Blue Tomato Teamrider Max Grünwald und Tobi Grünwald!

On the 21st of April 2011 the Rookie Scouting at the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein took place. Young snowboarders and freeskiiers showed their ability to ride and got professional advice from BT teamrides Vanessa Waldenhofer, Paz Gruber and Flo Wieser! Furthermore, Max Grünwald and Tobi Grünwald showed their best tricks! All in all it was a sunny and funny day!

Im März fand das Blue Tomato Teamrider Shooting im BT Snowpark Stuhleck statt.

Alle Teamrider zeigten ihr Können und hatten jede Menge Spaß. Trotz schlechter Schneeverhältnisse war es ein richtig cooler Shoot und außerdem einer der lustigsten ever.

In March the Blue Tomato teamrider shooting at the BT Snowpark Stuhleck took place.

All riders showed their tricks and had a lot of fun. Depite the lack of snow, we can say that it was just a really cool shoot and also one of the funniest sessions for sure.
