Unsere Blue Tomato Rookies Tobi und Max Gründwald sind fleißig unterwegs! Während Max sich momentan lieber dem Powdern auf der Zugspitze widmet, fuhr Tobi ein klasse Ergebnis beim Laax Open Rail Contest ein: Ein sensationeller 2. Platz!

Dieser Rail Contest war eigentlich als “Junior Open” angedacht, jedoch waren enorme Schneemassen Schuld daran, dass der Contest weiter

runter ins Tal verlegt werden musste und in Folge dessen als Rail Contest abgehalten wurde. Verständlich, da man bei  Windeschwindigkeiten über 100 km/h lieber nicht in der Gondel umher gefegt wird….

Die meisten Starter (82 von 120) waren auch nicht enttäuscht, als der Pipe-Contest zur Jib-Session an einem Tag umgemodelt wurde! Gejudged wurde nach dem True Overall Prinzip – der Gesamteindruck aller gezeigten Tricks wurde gewertet, die Punkte zählen sowohl als Swiss Snowboard Points als auch für das TTR Ranking.

Tobi Grünwald, der sich bei den unter 13-Jährigen nur Samuel Camenzind (SUI) geschlagen geben musste, gelang ein hervorragender 2. Platz! Ride on!

Incredible!! Our Blue Tomato team rider and freeski rookie Lisi Gram (15) got 1st in halfepipe at the first Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck!

Our rider and tyrolean native Elisabeth Gram has won Austria’s first Gold Medal of the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in the Women’s Ski Halfpipe Final on Sunday.

After a suprising 1st place in the qualification where she has already dominated her competititors, she amassed 84.75 points to win the Gold in front of a delighted crowd.

All the time Lisi  looked natural and smooth on her way to the Gold as she linked a straight-edge safety with a 540, then finished with her signature hand-plant.

“It’s my special trick,” Lisi said of her hand-plant. “That’s my trick and if I do it everyone knows, ‘Yeah that’s Lizzy’.”

As she had hip pain beacause of a bail she had to pull herself together. ” I was a bit nervous, but relaxed, “she admitted at the finish and could not realize their succes after the run, “but it’s mega cool.”

Many fans from her homestown, including parents and friends, have seen Lisi in a unknown role, as she had to answer so many interview questions, “quite unusual,” admitted the winner.
After this, she celebrated her triumph in a small group. Besides, it was another premiere too: the first time freestyle skiing in the halfpipe as an Olympic sport!

Unsere Blue Tomato Team Rider Petra Bernhard und Mathias Haas waren beim Snowmobilerace in Saalbach Hinterglemm dabei! Mit welchen Promis sie um den Sieg kämpften, erzählen sie hier in unserem Blog!

Hallo zusammen!

Letztes Wochenende ging das 5. Swatch Snowmobilrennen in Saalbach Hintergelmm über die Bühne. Mathias und ich waren als Profifahrer für das 2. Rennen: “Battle of Champions” eingeladen worden. Dort waren unter anderem auch einige Snowmobilprofis am Start… aber wir liesen uns nix anmerken – eh klar und gaben unser bestes – wie immer!

Kurze Erklärungen zu unseren Teams:

Am diesem Wochenende fanden 2 Rennen statt, zum einen das “Battle of Champions” Race, zum anderen das eigentliche “Swatch Snowmobile” Rennen. Jedes Team bestand aus 6 festgesetzten Fahrern, inklusive einem Promifahrer + 2 zugelosten Profifahrern. Mathias wurde in das Saalbach - Hinterglemm – Leogang Team gelost mit dem Ex-Skirennläufer Hans Enn als Promi und ich kam ins Chilli Team mit Dominic Heinzl als Teamchef und Ex-Skirennläufer Kristian Ghediner als Promi.
Insgesamt waren 24 Teams am Start, die je 22.000€ an Startgeld hinblätterten. Im Package inkludiert waren aber das Quartier, 5***** Verpflegung im Alpine Palast und die ganzen 4 Tage lang Party Party Party. Es gab so sensationell viel zu sehen in der Riderslounge mit all den Promifahrern und der ganzen Action inklusive Stürzen auf der Strecke, die einem Fahnenmeer von allen Teams und Hauptsponsoren glich. Mathias und ich waren oft auf der Videowall zu sehen und ich hatte Interviews bei Puls 4, chilli, Ö3 und dem ORF. Natürlich war auch ein wahnsinniger Auflauf an Promis: unter anderem Sido, Oliver Pocher, Luna, Gina Lisa, Kimi Räikkönen, Das Bo, Marcus Schenkenberg und viele mehr.
Für Promigeflüster war also gesorgt und wir ergatterten sogar das ein oder andere Foto!

Blue Tomato Teamrider Mathias Weißenbacher talks about the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam last weekend and his amazing 3rd place!

“Three days ago the Horsefeathers “Pleasure Jam” went down.  It was just insane! I got an invitation for the Semifinals and  made it into the Finals – top 12 riders .

The level of riding was actually the sickest I´ve ever seen at the Pleasure Jam .. check out the riderslist!

And yeah, at the end I managed to get 3rd !!  I’m really really happy about this because the level was just amazing with all the good riders so yeah, I’m stoked!”

Bei dem EuroCup in Saas Fee bin ich ins Finale gekommen und schlussendlich bin ich 6. geworden. Ich bin ganz zufrieden, weil es mein 2. Tag in der Pipe war und auch mein erster
Internationaler Contest. Das Beste ist, dass ich jetzt die Fis-Punkte habe, welche ich für die Youth Olympics brauche.

Blue Tomato Team Rider Mathias Weißenbacher about his season start and his win at the 4 Star TTR Nissan Stomp It!

It was a pretty good weekend for me ! After I missed the finals  of the  Worldcup in London , because I ended in 9th place in the Qualis and just 6 went through, I packed all my stuff and went on the same day to Italy-Modena for the 4 Star TTR Nissan Stomp it !

The Jump in Italy was pretty scatchy so I tried to do my best. It was a Corner-jump but everyone just went over it so it was kind of like a normal Jump with a really soft and scatchy 5 meter landing
In the Qualification I did a BS 720 mute – ended in 10th place and 16th went through !

In the finals we had 3 runs – best counts ! I was thinking about to do a BS 1080 mute grab as my first trick in the finals – The takeoff and  In-run got soft really fast, so I thought it would be better to do it in the first run cause that was the only way to get enough speed for this trick!

So I did it and I pretty much overshoot the whole landing– BUT  I landed my BS 1080 mute and I got really good points for it !! At the end I won the 4 Star TTR NISSAN STOMP IT in
Italy and I’m really stoked about it !! Wooop!

I think for me it was the best thing to start my season and I’m really looking forward to it Hopefully a video and some pictures are coming soon

Erfolgreicher Saisonabschluss für Blue Tomato Downhiller Boris Tetzlaff!

Das Austria Extreme Cup Downhill-Finale fand vergangenes Wochenende am 15.-16. Oktober 2011  in Zusammenarbeit mit dem

österreichischen  Radsportverband im Bikepark Mautern, Steiermark, statt. Die 2 km lange Strecke, gespickt mit zahlreichen Hindernissen, Tables, Sprüngen und Brücken verlangte von den knapp 100 Startern einiges ab.

Das Durchschnittsgefälle betrug ungefähr 26 %, wobei die Fahrzeit  knapp unter 4 Minuten lag.

Der Mödlinger Boris Tetzlaff schaffte mit einer Zeit von 3:33 Minuten  die Tagesbestzeit und holte sich nicht nur souverän den Sieg im Bewerb, sondern holte sich damit auch die Gesamtcupwertung!

Mit Zuversicht geht es ins nächste Jahr, wo 2012 die WM in Leogang stattfinden wird.

Fresh snow, clear blue sky and three days of sunshine accompanied the visitors through an unforgettable opening – perfect conditions to start the season in the Snowpark Kaunertal with lots of action. The open park and the contest line were perfectly shaped, which was great for the riders to show their best tricks and jumps. The pros and amateurs battled in the contests on the kicker line, equipped with a canon box and a pipe, which guaranteed also jib-fun.

But not only the snow park was full of action. The testival area with 50 brands held out against the big run and people tested their gear three days long. We guess that there was no visitor who didn’t take home some nice goodies from the blue Tomato tent! The people had a lot of fun trying the wheel of fortune and winning some nice Blue Tomato stuff.

The freeski pro Roy Kittler scored with a „right side cork 9 blunt“ at the first kicker and with a „switch left side 900 mute“ at the second kicker and was the winner of the freeski contest. American snowboarder Eric Beauchemin convinced the
judges with a „cab 9 und BS rodeo 7 nose grab“ and won the prize money for the best snowboarder.
