Surf World Champion Kelly Slater is currently supporting ecological projects on Bali.

The 11-time Surf Worl Champion Kelly Slater supports the Bali beach clean-up with a brand new surfboard he donated in cooperation with Quiksilver Indonesia for an eBay auction (http://bit.ly/JOWemQ).

The funds raised will be donated to Bale’s ROLE Foundation, an environmental non-profit.

After his recent surf trip to Bali he was stunned and aghast at the huge amount of waste at the beaches so that he started to call attention to create incentives for keeping Bali beaches clean.
“However I can get engaged to help out to at least educate and spread the word to help motivate the people who know how to do the right thing to start creating some change here, I’m happy to do that,” said Slater in a press release. “Giving a board is something simple but giving some time is something I’d feel really good about. The board is a start and if it’s going to raise some funds, I’ll match the funds with whatever the board raises. I’ll match that myself.”

According to ROLE, some 5,000 tons of solid waste are dumped illegally each day in Bali.

Eigentlich wollte ich ja diesen Sommer mal woanders hinfahren. Nicht schon wieder Bali. Aber irgendwie hat es sich dann doch wieder ergeben, dass ich erneut auf der Insel der Götter landete. Man kommt einfach nicht los von der Anziehungskraft und dem Zauber dieser kleinen indonesischen Insel. Bereits zum 8. Mal packte ich mein Zeug für Bali. Das übliche Setup: 2 Boards (diesmal 5.10 und 6.4), Skatedeck, Medizinkoffer und möglichst wenig Kleidung! Obwohl ich mir jedes Mal vornehme weniger mitzunehmen landet trotzdem immer zu viel im Koffer!!Nicht lernfähig! Schließlich gibt es auf der Surferinsel doch 1-2 Surfshops an denen man einfach nicht vorbeigehen kann…

The 12x German Surf Champion Sonnie Hönscheid remembers some damn good waves and raindancing on deck.
For the first time, a girls boat trip with seven enthusiastic and talented surfer girls was organized at Bali. The girls sailed along the best surfing spots in Indonesia, from Flores to Komodo via Sumba, Sava and Roti on the Sama Sama for 11 days. Indonesia is without a doubt the surfers’ mecca. The roaring fourties produce solid swells all year around. Bali has literally so many breaks for all levels of surfing. All parts have the consistency in common but otherwise its own characteristic:
