With its 1.800 meters, the Blue Tomato Kings Park in Mühlbach am Hochkönig is most likely the longest snowpark of its kind. The British park designer Karl Sanderson and his shape crew have done an outstanding job in the last few weeks in decorating the majority of the 1.800 meter long playground with new obstacles.
So it was time for our snowboarders and freeskiers to check out the park at the Hochkönig! And they did a good job!
On December 29th 2012, a team of filmmakers and photographers and some of our teamriders went to the Hochkönig to put the park’s rails, kickers and boxes to the test. The results of the session at the Blue Tomato Kings Park were tons of fun, freestyle action and fresh shots, which were compiled to a Snowboard Clip and a Freeski Clip.
Have a look at the pics and the clips and check out our teamrider Flo Galler, Diz Pichler, Dominik Wagner, Miriam Hoffmann und Sebastian Huber in action!
Do you want to get technical on rails? What about a little BS Nosepress, garnished with a FS 180 out?
Our teamriderDominik Wagner is snowboarding for nine years, and since that day he rides the board as often as he can. He is a generous guy and that’s why he decided to share some wisdom with you!
When you can do the backside nosepress real safe and you are well-grounded, then try this trick tip.
But only with the second tip from him – don´t forget the sunscreen when you’re boarding on a glacier!
Look at these pictures and see what he is talking about!
Frontboards are cool. But you know what’s even better? Frontblunts.
Our snowboard teamriderFlo Galler knows this too and he loves them so much, he even spins 270s out of them!
On his favourite resort, Dachstein glacier, he will show you how to do a great FS Blunt 270 out.
He is snowboarding for 10 years now and he knows what he is talking about when he says that this is a really cool trick.
Do you want to learn that yourself? You should better check out his trick tip then!
Here are some cool pictures from Flo Galler in action:
You are tired of your FS 180s off straightrails? Step your game up and learn more!
Our teamriderClemens Schattschneider snowboards for a pretty long time now, and so he wants to share his experience with you. In fact, he wants to explain you the FS 360 out of a donkey rail.
So before he was going to Portugal for some nice surfdays, he showed us how to knee down, approach the rail gently, jump on it, initiate the spin and pop off the back foot.
Sounds simple? Then watch the video and try it on the mountain:

Ville Uotila, our rider for the snowboard team, took up snowboarding because it looked like fun and he had a lot of friends who went snowboarding too. Now he wants to show you what real fun is and how to do a FS Rodeo 5.
He explains you the trick from popping from the kicker until the landing. And when you are able to land all this easily – party on!

Our teamrider Villa Uotila enjoyed his holidays in Finland in a meaningful way – with training
Here you can a read a small summer update from him:
“Hopefully the summer is rolling well for everybody. I spend my summer just in Finland this year but it’s been worth it for sure. Always nice to spend some time at home after a long season. I have been pretty busy a whole summer. Mostly I have been training my ass off this summer. We’ve got the privat physiotherapist for the finnish national team so it has been helping a lot. Beside of training there’s of course a lot of other sport I love to do like tennis, paddle tennis, cycling, trampoline, etc.. Yeah, and of course there has been a bunch of nice partys like Summer Sound festival. It was the largest electronic music festival in northern Europe. Goood times!!
There’s just a month left and then I’m back in business on the mountain. It’s just crazy how fast the whole summer went but actually I’m ready to go already.”
A few weeks ago, the last days of the season in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein were already in sight. But we knew: it was time again for a big Blue Tomato team shooting!
Beautiful weather, the sun is burning down but our lovely Dachstein always keeps us cool for beeing active for some beloved spring snowboard sessions!
So we decided to go for a huge one and invited our great Blue Tomato Snowboard family of team riders.
But we didn’t stop here, we also brought our guy for moving pictures, Thomas Kesselbacher, with us and chained him in front of his computer afterwards to provide you with a sweet little edit:
On the past weekend, the QParks Tour Finals went down on the Dachstein Glacier! Both Freeskiers and Snowboarders had to fight not only each other, but also the bad weather conditions. Because of wind, rain and fog, the planned slopestyle contest on the Pro Kickerline couldn’t be held, so the guys from QParks decided to move it to the Pro Railline instead. Our Teamriders brought home FOUR places on the podium! Congratulations to Roli Scharmer‘s first place and Flo Galler‘s second place in the Snowboard Men category! For the skiers, Martin Hauck and Daniel Walchhofer were successful in the Men and Rookie category and claimed a third place each!
And because the Horsefeathers Rock the Top was the Final of the QParks Tour, the Overall winners were crowned, too! Huge congratulations go out to Flo Galler for winning the Overall title Snowboard Men! Martin Hauck just missed the top spot and got second in the Freeski Men, just like Daniel Walchhofer did in the Rookie Overall Ranking, big congratulations to both of you, anyway!
Roli Scharmer (4th), Viktor Szigeti (5th), Georgi Mihaylov (9th) and Dominik Wagner (18th) also placed well in the Snowboard Men Overall ranking, so did Max (8th) and Tobi (15th) Grünwald in the Rookie and Lisa Veith (5th) in the Girls Overall ranking. Alex Moser secured a 7th place in the Freeski Men and Stefanie De Menech the 11th place in the Freeski Girls Overall ranking.
Congratulations again to all our Teamriders and we are already looking forward to next years QParks Snowboard and Freeski Tour!
Spring is everywhere! In late april, most lifts had already closed down. But a small group of snowboard-enthusiasts couldn’t resist to use the snow that still covered most of the mountains. Supported by Blue Tomato, they hosted a spring session right below the parking lot of the Dachstein glacier at “Eagle Mountain” with a Live DJ, BBQ, Beer and of course lots of shredding! They built a kicker, a corner and two raillines and there were filmers and photographers to capture the madness that was going on.
A lot of Blue Tomato Teamriders were involved, Flo Galler, Paz Gruber, Roli Scharmer, Franki Wörndl, Vanessa Waldenhofer and lots of friends shredded every obstacle in sight! Continue reading 'Eagle Mountain spring session'»
Our Teamrider Ville Uotila sends you his second report from every snowboarder’s wet dream: Alaska!
The Alaska license plate reads, “the last frontier”, a perfect caption for what the Chugach range is to snowboarding. Riders from all over the world have gathered here for the same thing, riding pow. We are here for an adventure, a new experience, a new line, a new mountain, and there is no better place for a snowboarder than Alaska. Every day of riding prior is practice to be here.
