Our teamrider Villa Uotila enjoyed his holidays in Finland in  a meaningful way – with training

Here you can a read a small summer update from him:
“Hopefully the summer is rolling well for everybody. I spend my summer just in Finland this year but it’s been worth it for sure. Always nice to spend some time at home after a long season. I have been pretty busy a whole summer. Mostly I have been training my ass off this summer. We’ve got the privat physiotherapist for the finnish national team so it has been helping a lot.  Beside of training there’s of course a lot of other sport I love to do like tennis, paddle tennis, cycling, trampoline, etc..  Yeah, and of course there has been a bunch of nice partys like Summer Sound festival. It was the largest electronic music festival in northern Europe. Goood times!!
There’s just a month left and then I’m back in business on the mountain. It’s just crazy how fast the whole summer went but actually I’m ready to go already.”

Starting the week with an own summer shooting project sounds exciting!

That was the 3 days plan for us 7 interns, Bijan, Wolfi, Meike, Chris, Flo, Franzi and Sarah (clockwise from the top). So we packed our bags and hit the road from our office in Schladming to the nice university town of Graz.

Leaving in heavy downpour we arrived again in beautiful rainy weather at the Blue Tomato logistics in Graz after a long, but cozy bus trip including nutritious beakfast breaks at McDonalds – of course.

After a short guided tour through the logistics of Graz we finally got down to work: considering our project story, collecting summer outfits for the shooting, checking models and locations, arranging a timetable… We had some hot discussions while the first meeting and thus we were even more excited about the upcoming shooting Tuesday.

Tuesday morning. Departure, a short stop for buying provisions, then straight to the first location – the amazing university of Graz!

Happy about our well-ordered and harmonizing team, the sudden approaching friendly summer weather and the characteristic college location, we finished our shooting after two short hours and could head for the next spot.

We were planning to shoot at the platform of the nice mur isle but we spontaneously changed our decision for another hot spot:

A great beach bar with a corresponding fresh and easy beach feeling – in this situation the better choice!

We were blown away from the results. Everything was going so well that we still had enough time discovering the lovely downtown with its numerous bars, the obvious frozen-yoghurt trend, delicious and opulent food, as well as the old tower called “Urturm” on top of the castle mountain with great view over the city!

Die Woche mit einem Shooting zu beginnen klingt verlockend!

So ging es für uns 7 Praktikanten, im Uhrzeigersinn: Bijan, Wolfi, Meike, Chris, Flo, Franzi und Sarah, vollbepackt und wochenendmüde, aber dennoch gespannt auf unseren bevorstehenden 3-Tage-Eigenprojekt-Trip ab in die Studentencity nach Graz.

Losgefahren bei prasselndem Regen und nach einer langen, aber gemütlichen 2 bis 3 Stunden Fahrt mit nahrhafter Frühstückspause bei McDonalds, kamen wir ebenfalls bei schönstem Regenwetter in der Blue Tomato Logistik in Graz an.

Nach einer kleinen Führung durchs Lager ging es dann endlich an die Arbeit: Story/Thema überlegen, Outfits zusammenstellen, Models und Locations checken, Zeitplan erstellen… Da ging es im Meetingraum bei so mancher Abstimmung heiß her und wir waren auf unsern Shooting-Tuesday nun mehr als gespannt!

Dienstag morgen.

Abfahrt, Provianteinkauf und los zur ersten Location – der wunderschönen Grazer Uni!

Happy über unser super harmonierendes Team, das plötzlich aufziehende Sommerwetter und die charakteristische Studentenlocation, konnten wir unser Shooting schon nach erfolgreichen zwei Stunden abschließen und zum nächsten Spot fahren.

Geplant war die schwimmende Plattform der Murinsel, heraus gekommen ist jedoch spontan ein anderer Hot Spot:

Eine tolle Beachbar mit erfrischendem Strandfeeling – in dem Moment einfach die bessere Wahl!

Vom Ergebnis waren wir alle hin und weg.
Alles hat gepasst, mit Applaus konnten wir unser Shooting beenden und hatten am Abend noch genügend Zeit die herrliche Grazer Altstadt mit ihren zahlreichen Bars, dem augenscheinlichen Frozen-Joghurt-Trend, leckerem, füllendem Essen, sowie dem Urturm auf dem Schlossberg mit gigantischem Ausblick auf die Stadt zu erkunden.

Gestohlene Bikes, ein zaghaftes Rennen und dennoch eine einzigartige Stimmung.

Unsere Blue Tomato Downhill Teamfahrer Petra Bernhard und Mathias Haas hatten eine extrem aufregende Zeit am Worldcup #3 in Fort Willian (GBR) und am IXS Cup am Brenner in Innsbruck.

Lest selbst, was Petra alles erlebt hat:

Hallo zusammen!

Nach einem super tollen Wochenende Worldcup in Val di Sole erlebten Mathias und ich diesmal eines der schlimmsten Rennwochenenden ever – direkt und indirekt!

Mathias beschloss mit unserem Freund Jordi aus Barcelona das IXS Rennen am Brenner zu fahren und ich war in Fort William/Schottland beim 3. Worldcup am Start.

Das Material wurde dafür gleich von Italien nach Schottland transportiert.

 Am Samstag früh dann die erschreckende Botschaft, mein Bus wurde am Brenner vor dem Hotel aufgebrochen und die DH Bikes von Mathias und Jordi rausgestohlen.
 Das hintere Schloss am Bus wurde mit einem Spezialwerkzeug aufgebrochen. Man bemerkte von außen nichts, aber die Bikes waren weg. Mein CC Bike ließen sie sogar drinnen.
Die immer heißbegehrten Monsterkappen von Mathias oder die neuen Laufräder oder Reifen wurden auch nicht angerührt, nur die 2 DH-Bikes fehlten.

Am Qualitag konnte ich keinen klaren Gedanken in Fort William finden, schaffte es aber noch als 9.te ins ziel.

Leider ging dann am Renntag alles schief. Ich bekam das Warm-up recht gut hin und fühlte mich gut am start.
Im Waldstück stürzte ich dann 2 mal und somit war mein Rennen quasi gelaufen.
Die Bilanz:
 Kettenführung zerstört, Pedal gebrochen, Lenker verbogen. Das Helmschild  war so fest nach unten geklappt, dass ichs in meinem Stress gar nicht nach oben bekam. Ich lief zu meinem Bike, die Zuschauer feuerten mich extrem gut an.

Die Stimmung ist jedoch einfach immer der Wahnsinn in Fort Bill. Leider konnte ich es nicht genießen.

Ich wurde letztendlich 19. Oh, mein Gott! Aber die 25.000 Zuseher “trugen” mich auf Händen ins Ziel. Die Stimmung war wirklich genial. Ich kann mich an meine ersten Worldcups erinnern, wo ich mich über
einen top 20 Platz freute. Am Sonntag rutschte mir das Herz in die Hose. aber so ist der Sport.

Es Kann Nur Besser Werden!

Mathias teilte sich das Bike mit unserem Teamkollegen Flo Wilhelm. Er wurde am Samstag in der quali 9. – mit nur 3 trainingsläufen bei ca 500 startern. Am Renntag wurde er 22.

Dieses Wochenende trainieren wir in Schladming für die Staatsmeisterschaft in einem Monat.
Nächsten Dienstag fliegen wir nach Amerika und kämpfen uns wieder zurück an die Weltspitze!

Anbei ein fettes DANKE an unsere Sponsoren, die uns aus der misslichen Lage retteten und uns mit Ersatzteilen ausrüsteten, sodass sich Mathias nun wieder sein Bike aufbauen, und mit nach Amerika fliegen kann.

BT Teamrider Mathias Weissenbacher is ready for the next season! He tells us about his trip to New Zealand and upcoming contests!

Dear Sponsor!

What happened in New Zealand and after the trip ???
One month in NZ and we had only two good days in the mountains! The reason was a BIG Blizzard Bad luck at the Comps and our car broke down!
I decided that this should not be my start of the new season 2011/12, but it was cool to see the country and I think it was a good experience !

After NZ I went straight to the UK – Cornwall for a week of surfing with family “Nicholls”! It was my first time of “surfing”, so I was really looking forward to it and I really enjoyed it. Now I can do some turns so I am happy after 10 days of surfing So I think I am having my “official” start of the new Season in Hintertux – Tirol:)
Jamie Nicholls and me gonna have an apartment in Mayrhofen from the end of September till the beginning of November and I am really looking forward for some good kicker days up on the mountain !

The next competition will be the London Freeze and right after that an Invitational-Railbattle in England! Wooop Woop News about the competition coming soon …

Die Mountainbikesaison 2011 ging mit der WM in Champery als Höhepunkt zu Ende! BT Teamriderin Petra Bernhard berichtet uns exklusiv, wie sie die spannenden vier Tage erlebte, aber lest selbst, wie sich die WM aus ihrem Blickwinkel abspielte!

Hallo Zusammen!

Die Weltmeisterschaft in Champery in der Schweiz ist Geschichte und so auch unsere Downhillsaison 2011. Die WM begann für mich am Freitag vor einer Woche mit der Pressekonferenz für die WM in Leogang 2012. Die motivierten Leoganger wollen eine perfekte WM auf die Beine stellen. Markus Pekoll und ich waren als Fahrer eingeladen worden.
Am Sonntag fuhren wir in die Schweiz nach Champery, das beim Genfer See liegt.

Wir wohnten mit dem Crosscountry Nationalteam in einem sehr alten Haus zusammen. Insgesamt waren wir ca. 40 Leute. Für Mathias Haas und mich war es interessant mitanzusehen, wie
sich die CC  Fahrer auf die WM vorbereiteten, was sie aßen und wie sie sich motivierten. Die Strecke bei uns im Downhill war mehr als extrem hart. Die härteste auf der ganzen Welt finden Mathias und ich. Vom letzten Jahr hatten wir die 150% WM taugliche Strecke mit ihren extrem weiten Sprüngen noch im Gedächtnis!

Am ersten Trainingstag – das war der Dienstag hatten alle Downhillfahrer 5 Stunden lang gemeinsames Training. Mathias zog mich über alle Sprünge. ich war mega stolz alle extremen Step Downs, Tripel und Doubles zu springen. Die Strecke war im Gegensatz zum letzen Mal trocken und extrem schnell. Mathias und ich hatten mega Spass. Das bewies auch das am Freitag stattfindende Zeittraining, das nur für die Startberechtigung am Sonntag war. Mathias landete auf dem tollen 45. Platz und ich auf dem 5. Platz.

Am Sonntag stand dann das Finale vor der Tür und es sollte ganz anders kommen.
