On the past weekend, the QParks Tour Finals went down on the Dachstein Glacier! Both Freeskiers and Snowboarders had to fight not only each other, but also the bad weather conditions. Because of wind, rain and fog, the planned slopestyle contest on the Pro Kickerline couldn’t be held, so the guys from QParks decided to move it to the Pro Railline instead. Our Teamriders brought home FOUR places on the podium! Congratulations to Roli Scharmer‘s first place and Flo Galler‘s second place in the Snowboard Men category! For the skiers, Martin Hauck and Daniel Walchhofer were successful in the Men and Rookie category and claimed a third place each!
And because the Horsefeathers Rock the Top was the Final of the QParks Tour, the Overall winners were crowned, too! Huge congratulations go out to Flo Galler for winning the Overall title Snowboard Men! Martin Hauck just missed the top spot and got second in the Freeski Men, just like Daniel Walchhofer did in the Rookie Overall Ranking, big congratulations to both of you, anyway!
Roli Scharmer (4th), Viktor Szigeti (5th), Georgi Mihaylov (9th) and Dominik Wagner (18th) also placed well in the Snowboard Men Overall ranking, so did Max (8th) and Tobi (15th) Grünwald in the Rookie and Lisa Veith (5th) in the Girls Overall ranking. Alex Moser secured a 7th place in the Freeski Men and Stefanie De Menech the 11th place in the Freeski Girls Overall ranking.
Congratulations again to all our Teamriders and we are already looking forward to next years QParks Snowboard and Freeski Tour!
Spring is everywhere! In late april, most lifts had already closed down. But a small group of snowboard-enthusiasts couldn’t resist to use the snow that still covered most of the mountains. Supported by Blue Tomato, they hosted a spring session right below the parking lot of the Dachstein glacier at “Eagle Mountain” with a Live DJ, BBQ, Beer and of course lots of shredding! They built a kicker, a corner and two raillines and there were filmers and photographers to capture the madness that was going on.

Am vergangenen Wochenende 4.-6.5.12 fand der erste DH-Extreme Cup in der neuen Top Location in Mautern statt. Die 2 km lange und rasant abwechslungsreiche Strecke wartete mit zahlreichen Hindernissen, Tables und nicht ganz ungefährlichen Brücken auf. Die Teilnehmer mussten ein durchschnittliches Gefälle von 26 Prozent hinnehmen.
Der Wettergott meinte es mit den Ridern sehr gut, denn die Strecke war und blieb trocken und so konnte ein wirklich faires Rennen gefahren werden.
Am Samstag und am Sonntag konnte ich beim Qualifikationslauf sowie beim Seeding Run hinter dem Südafrikaner Johann Pietgieter den 2.Platz einnehmen.
Aber spannend wird es ja erst beim Finale! Der Start gelang perfekt und bis circa zur Halbzeit lief alles super, dann aber hatte sich die Kette zwischen das Kettenblatt verschoben und ich konnte nicht mehr so schnell treten. Ich versuchte noch alles heraus zu holen was möglich war. Leider verlor ich einige Zehntel und musste mich Schluss endlich mit dem 4.Platz zufrieden geben, ganz knapp am Podestplatz vorbei!
Nächstes Rennen wird der iXs-Cup in Leogang sein.

Es war ein erfolgreiches Wochenende für die Blue Tomato Teamrider. Petra erzielte sogar den 1. Platz bei den Damen, mit einem zweiten konnte sich Markus glücklich schätzen und Boris und Mathias kamen mit dem vierten und sechsten Platz von 44 Teilnehmern bei den Elite- Herren nach Hause.
The Surf Worldcup at the Neusiedler See finished on Sunday but will propably never be forgotten! The surfers and kiters presented crazy competitions with a lot of action. Furthermore the attendance at the first weekend were already higher as ever before. Thousands of people came to Podersdorf and enjoyed the first summer weekend with sunshine and caribic feeling.
Of course Blue Tomato were present the whole time and had a lot of actions at the stand: The raffle, a live graffiti as well as bags where you could spray your favorite slogan with stencils. Furthermore a longboard testcenter and the best products of the shop Vienna.
Every night party and the Zipfer Seaside Festival on the second weekend made also the nights unforgetable.
The winner of the VW Raffle, Lisa Vogl, also joined the Surf Worldcup at the second weekend. Therefore she picked up her VW California Bus on Friday and drove with her three best friends to Podersdorf where they got some more Goodies as well as free entry to the Zipfer Seaside Festival from Blue Tomato.
“Otro Modo” is a spanish term and means “the different way”. And that’s also the name and the philosophy of the surf camp in Fuerteventura where you might spend your next surfing vacation!

Surf World Champion Kelly Slater is currently supporting ecological projects on Bali.
The 11-time Surf Worl Champion Kelly Slater supports the Bali beach clean-up with a brand new surfboard he donated in cooperation with Quiksilver Indonesia for an eBay auction (http://bit.ly/JOWemQ).
The funds raised will be donated to Bale’s ROLE Foundation, an environmental non-profit.
After his recent surf trip to Bali he was stunned and aghast at the huge amount of waste at the beaches so that he started to call attention to create incentives for keeping Bali beaches clean.
“However I can get engaged to help out to at least educate and spread the word to help motivate the people who know how to do the right thing to start creating some change here, I’m happy to do that,” said Slater in a press release. “Giving a board is something simple but giving some time is something I’d feel really good about. The board is a start and if it’s going to raise some funds, I’ll match the funds with whatever the board raises. I’ll match that myself.”
According to ROLE, some 5,000 tons of solid waste are dumped illegally each day in Bali.

Hallo Zusammen!
Am Sonntag waren wir bei einem weiteren slowenischen Downhillrennen in Avce im Kanaltal. Die Fotos sind nicht bearbeitet – das Wasser ist wirklich so tükisgrün wegen der weißen Steine am Grund.
Beim Rennen gab es 3 Tage Regen, dementstrechend sah das Bike, das Zelt und der Bus aus.
Sie Strecke war lang und steil, aber mit typischem slowenischen Grund, dh. Lehmboden mit Wurzeln. Durch den Dauerregen wurde die Strecke extrem rutschig und tief. Das Rennenfahren war ein gutes Training, machte wirklich Spaß, aber zugleich war es wirklich anstrengend und nervenaufreibend. Mathias und ich ließen die Waschmaschine heute 7x durchlaufen und spritzen die Wäsche vorher 3h lang mit dem Kärcher ab. Das Bike musste komplett zerlegt werden. Überall war der Schmutz drinnen, aber die Fotos sprechen ja eh für sich…
Mathias war bester Österreicher und landete auf dem 8. Platz. Er schaffte es ohne Sturz ins ziel, das war die einzig richtige Strategie an diesem Tag.
Ich gewann die Damenklasse.
Kommendes Wochenende werden wir in Mautern für den darauffolgenden Austriacup zu trainieren.

Bin zurück von meinem 1sten Rennen der Saison 2012. Ich habe mich über den Winter gut vorbereitet und intensiv trainiert.
Freitag reiste ich mit meinem Team Commencal Austria nach Avce (Slowenien) – um schon ein paar Downhillläufe zu absolvieren. Jedoch machte das Wetter einen Strich durch die Rechnung. Es schüttete wie aus Kübeln, daher war kein Fahren in Sicht. Leider wurde das Wetter nicht besser und so begann der Kampf gegen den Gatsch! Es wurde von Fahrt zu Fahrt schlimmer und das Wasser stand teilweise schon einen halben Meter tief. Im Seedingrun am Samstag brachte ich trotz strömenden Regen einen soliden Lauf hinunter und wurde 4ter. Das Finale am Sonntag stand vor der Tür – ich suchte meine letzten trockenen Sachen und machte mich auf dem Weg zum Start. Leider stürzte ich gleich nach den ersten paar Fahrsekunden und konnte daher nur gebremst weiterfahren, weil alles voller „Gatsch“ (von oben bis unten) war. Schlussendlich riss es mich zwei Kurven vor dem Ziel nochmals vom Bike und daher wurde ich dann leider nur 12ter. Alles im allen war es ein sehr nasses, hartes und aber auch ein sehr Kräfte raubendes Rennen – aber ich habe sehr viel daraus gelernt.
After a long month of march sunny and après ski tanning temperatures I was so excited about going to Alaska with exciting terrain and perfect snow. Plus the crew was epic: Xavier and Victor Delerue, Mathieu Crepel, Fredi Kalbermatten and my self french party trip to Haines. The last time I was in Haines we saw the sky twice out of a whole month, well this year it’s been pretty much the opposite. I ve seen nothing but sunshine and blue sky… as weird as it sounds it felt a bit like summer camp!
We were sharing the heli between the 2 crews, at first the Delerue crew took the heli in the mornings and Fredi Mathieu and myself used it in the afternoons then we switched and my crew would go up in the morning. It worked out well as we didn’t need to stress on sharing the heli between both groups at the same time but then we also didn’t really get to spend time all together as we had opposite schedules everyday.
Our first day up Mathieu had the sikest line ever, few turns into airing a first time above some ice as his sluff was raging down the face, coming ahead of that sluff to bs 360 at the end of his line, landing in the middle of his sluff and still stomping strong out of it, so sik! I had found the sweetest spine ever a bit further on the wright which ended up being the biggest adrenaline rush of the trip for me.. looked so sweet from the bottom and so impressive from up top, the snow was epic on that one and I really loved it.. until I got taken out by my sluff on the run out. Well I guess that was a great reminder of sluff management! Such a great first day up there though!
White Alaska turned into blue Alaska, I mean usually the weather is white and you are seeking for the sun window and that means the snow is insane! And when the sun’s out everyday that means you can fly everyday, but like anywhere else it also means the snow is suffering from it. Instead of seeking for the sun you end up seeking for some good snow high up above glacier terrain. Some days were tricky as snow was windblown or sun crusted. Some faces were epic, but not approachable with the heli for drops up top. Some lines looked so sweet but ended in the scariest glacier mouths but in the end one good face makes it up for it straight away!
