Last weekend the Landiwiese in Zürich was the spot where all freestyle fans gathered when Teamrider Halldor Helgason won the snowboard competition!
On Friday night the weekend got started with the Riders Welcome Night at Sihl City! A great
party; people were relaxed, the riders were motivated and Mambo Kurt and Drifter&Mortenson brought some sweet beats! But theres no rest for the wicked, the next morning we got up early because at 11am freestyle.ch 2011 kicked off with a bang!
Till 1pm the labelarea was the main interest of the crowd. There was a lot of action at the Blue Tomato tent! We entertained with great goodies and the fwheel of fortune was spinning all day long!
Around 1pm the qualis started and it was time for the riders show if they had what it takes to win the freestyle.ch 2011! The Blue Tomato Teamriders Tobi Grünwald and Max Grünwald were on site shredding up the various skateramps!
As the sun started setting you could hear the sweet sound of Lil Jon busting out a wicked live performing! Thanks to open-air Frauenfeld, because he knew how to motivate the crowd for the big Crossoversession!
At 10pm the real party got started at Härterei, the biggest party of the weekend and it was definately worth a visit! On two floors the DJs were heating up the air and the crowd was dancing all night long till the morning came!
On Sunday afternoon the finals started:
From the snowboarders it was Blue Tomato Teamrider Halldor Helgason who dominated! He inspired the crowd and the judges with a Frontside Double Cork 1080! This trick you land almost blind which is why it´s so difficult, but Halldor carried it out with near perfect execution and had enough style to become the freestyle.ch winner of 2011!! On second place was Seppe Smits and third Ståle Sandbech.
In Freeski the swiss ruled the ramp! Elias Ambühl won the Freeski contest after placing second for two consecutive years, and directly behind him in second place this year was the 16 year old Kai Mahler!
In the FMX and the Skate disciplines the role models quickly took the lead! FMX legend, spanish Dany Torres won! Tom Pagès placed second and Petr Pilat third!
In skateboarding it was Canadian Pierre-Luc Gagnon who won, as expected! Rony Gomes took second place and Adam Taylor third!
Honestly, it was an amazing weekend with a lot of action and a lot of partying! However the planning for the freestyle.ch goes on and the date for 2012 is already set to 23. and 24. September! And Blue Tomato will be there for sure!

Dieses Wochenende war es wieder soweit, das freestyle.ch 2011 hat in Zürich die Massen begeistert! Und Blue Tomato Teamrider Halldor Helgason holte sich den Sieg bei den Snowboardern.
Freitagabend ging es mit der Riders Welcome Night los. Eine Party wie sie im Buche steht, die Leute gut drauf, die Rider top motiviert und Mambo Kurt und Drifter&Mortensen haben die Stimmung angeheizt!
Die Labelarea war bis 13:00 das Hauptziel der Besucher. Kein Wunder, dort gab es massenhaft Aktionen und Goodies zu hohlen. Auch der Blue Tomato Stand war dort vertreten und hat mit Gewinnspielen, Glücksrad und coolen Goodies die Freestylefans angezogen!
Am Nachmittag waren dann die Qualifikationen in den vier Freestyle-Disziplinen dran, bei denen die Rider zum ersten Mal zeigen konnten ob sie das Zeug zum freestyle.ch Sieger haben. Die Blue Tomato Teamrider Tobi Grünwald und Max Grünwald waren beim Event natürlich auch dabei und haben die zahlreichen öffentlichen Ramps mit dem Skateboard gerockt!
Als es langsam dunkel wurde, hörte man es schon von weitem, den Beat des legendären Lil Jon, der dank Openair Frauenfeld live performte und die partyhungrige Menge auf die berüchtigte Crossoversession vorbereitete!
Ab 22:00 Uhr ging es dann mit der richtigen Party los. In der Härterei konnten auf 2 Floors alle Partyanimals so richtig die Sau raus lassen und das Haus zum beben bringen. Bei den heißen Beats konnte keiner still in der Ecke stehen, die Beine haben begonnen zu zucken und dann ging es auch schon los, tanzen bis der Schweiß von der Decke tropfte! Die Dancefloors waren voll und die Stimmung ein Wahnsinn!
Die Finale am Sonntag waren atemberaubend, aber wie ihr wisst: Es kann nur einer Gewinnen!
Bei den Snowboardern war das Blue Tomato Rider Halldor Helgason, der mit einem Frontside Double Cork 1080 die Jury überzeugte! Den 2. Platz holte sich Seppe Smits und auf dem 3. Platz konnte sich Ståle Sandbech behaupten.
Bei den Freeskiern gab es einen sensationellen schweizer Doppelsieg von Elias Ambühl, der nach den letzten Jahren auf dem 2. Platz das freestyle.ch endlich erober konnte, und auf dem 2. Platz der erst 15 jährige Kai Mahler!
In den Disziplinen FMX und Skate setzten sich ganz klar die Favoriten durch. So holte sich bei den FMXern der Spanier Dany Torres den sicheren Sieg. Tom Pagès holte sich den 2. Platz dicht gefolgt von Petr Pilat auf dem 3. Platz.
Im Skaten gewann wie erwartet der Kanadier Pierre-Luc Gagnon gefolgt von dem 2. Platzierten Rony Gomes und dem 3. platzierten Adam Taylor.
Ganz ehrlich, das war ein super Wochenende mit tollen Highlights und klasse Stimmung! In einem Jahr ist es wieder soweit, das Datum ist fixiert und Planung läuft, am 23. und 24. September 2012 verwandelt sich die Landiwiese wieder zum Mekka aller Freestyle-Fans!
Also, wir sehen uns dort, denn Blue Tomato ist ganz sicher auch wieder dabei!
