QParks Tour Finale – Spannende Head-to-Head Battles am Dachstein!

Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und angenehmen Temperaturen trafen sich insgesamt 68 super motivierte Snowboarder und Freeskier am Wochenende vom 7. + 8. Mai im Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein für das große QParks Tour Finale.
In einem top-besetzten Starterfeld boten sich die Rider massive Head-to-Head Battles und kämpften nicht nur um den Tagessieg sondern auch um die Krone der gesamten QParks Tour! Der feine Freestyle Tag fand seinen gemütlichen Abschluss mit chilliger Musik und einem feinen Barbecue am Ramsau Beach, wo die Tages und Tour Sieger ihren Triumph feierten!
Obwohl die Contest-Tage für Snowboarder und Freeskier getrennt waren, hatten die Rider eines gemeinsam. Sie kamen schon früh in den Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein und bestaunten das Contest Set-Up, das von der Shapecrew rund um Parkdesigner Andy Röck perfekt präpariert wurde.
Dieses bestand aus einem Treebonk oder Down Rail, 2 Kicker Combos, einer Red Bull Funbox und der Special Wallride Endsection. Bei frühlingshaftem Wetter mit strahlendem Sonnenschein fanden sich immer mehr Rider und Zuschauer in der Blue Tomato Chill Area ein und warteten gespannt auf die Bekanntgabe der Head-to-Head Battles!

Samstag 7. Mai – Snowboard Battle
Nach einem kleinen Training in der Früh, bei dem schon massive Double Backflips gezeigt wurden, gab Speaker MC Lix die Namen für die Battles bekannt und Head Judge Gigi Scheidl gab die letzten Anweisungen zum Contest Format. Dann ging es auch schon Schlag auf Schlag: In den Head-to-Head Battles fuhren die Snowboarder immer paarweise in ihren Kategorien Rookies, Girls und Men und hauten massive Doubles, Rodeos und 9er in allen Variationen über das Contest Set-Up.

Bei den Männern belegten die beiden Slowenen Matevz Pristavec und Aljosa Krivec die Plätze eins und zwei, der dritte Platz ging an den Österreicher Stephan Wimmer! Aljosa gewann ebenfalls die Wertung Best Trick mit seinem sauber gestickten Double Backflip im Finale und bekam dafür 200 Euro extra sowie ein Jahresabo für das Playboard Mag.
Bei den Snowboard Mädels landete diesmal Klara Dinold (AUT) auf dem Podest ganz oben und freute sich riesig über ihren Sieg: “Am Dachstein einen Contest zu fahren war schon mal super, aber dann auch noch zu gewinnen .. bin immer noch ganz aus dem Häuschen!“ Sie verwies ihre Freundinnen Daniela Kaindl (AUT) und Lisa Veith (AUT) auf die Plätze zwei und drei.
Auch die Snowboard Rookies zeigten Freestyle Action auf höchstem Niveau! Fette gegrabte Backflips, massive FS und BS 720s ließen die Judges und Zuschauer staunen. Den Tagessieg holte sich Florian Prietl (AUT) vor Roland Tschoder (AUT) und Marc Schumy (AUT).

Nach dem Contest ging es dann direkt vom Dachstein Gletscher nach Ramsau. Im Freizeitpark Ramsau Beach chillten die Rider bei einem leckeren Barbecue und gemütliche Musik von Dj Alex und warteten auf die Preisverleihung, gesponert von Blue Tomato und QParks. Nachdem die Tagessieger ihre Preise überreicht bekamen, wurden die Gesamtsieger der Tour gekrönt.
Bei den Rookies sicherte sich der Österreicher Roland Tschoder den ersten Platz und konnte sich über ein neues Handy und einem Jahresvertrag von Red Bull Mobile freuen. Er gewann die Tour vor Florian Prietl (AUT) und Marc Schumy (AUT).
Bei den Mädels sicherte sich die Tour Führende Daniela Kaindl (AUT) die Krone und freute sich über feine Goodies sowie 300 Euro Cash. Mit ihrem Tagessieg holte Klara Dinold (AUT) den zweiten Platz vor der QParks Tour Doktorin Lisa Veith (AUT).

Bei den Männern reichte Jonel Fricke (GER) der sechste Platz im Finale zum Sieg der Tour: Er sahnte 1,800 Euro ab und freute sich wahnsinnig: “Das Finale am Dachstein war vom Level her unschlagbar! Da ich mir zwei
Wochen zuvor leider mein Knie verdreht hatte, bin ich den Contest nur auf Sicherheit gefahren und landete somit auf Platz 6. Trotzdem reichte der Sechste Platz für mich um mit einigen Punkten Vorsprung den Overall Sieg bei der QParks Tour zu holen – Yeeaahhh!!!“ Snowboard Talent Victor Szigeti (HUN) holte sich den zweiten Platz in der Tour vor Stephan Wimmer (AUT), die sich ebenfalls über fette Preisgelder und Goodies der Sponsoren freuen konnten!

Sonntag 8. Mai – Freeski Battle
Am Sonntag war Freeski-Legende Nico Zacek der Speaker beim Contest und hatte die Ehre, die Head-to-Head Battles bekannt zu geben. Nach einer kurzen Erklärung des Head Judges Stefan Hörist ging der Contest auch schon los: in den hart umkämpften Battles zeigten die Freeskier trotz des Windes massive Flips und Spins in allen Variationen!

QParks Tour finals – thrilling head to head battles at the Dachstein
At bright sunshine and pleasant temperatures, 68 super motivated snowboarders and freeskiers met at the weekend of May 7th and 8th at the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein for the big QParks Tour finals. The riders of a top-ranked starting field, showed massive head to head battles and did not only fight for the victory of the day but also for the crown of the whole QParks tour! The nice freestyle day found its cozy end with good music and a tasty barbecue at the Ramsau Beach where the winners of the day and the tour celebrated their victory!
Even if the contest days were seperated for snowboarders and freeskiers the riders had one thing in common: they arrived early at the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein and marveled at the contest setup which was perfectly prepared by the shape crew around park designer Andy Röck. It consisted of a Treebonk or a Down Rail, 2 kicker combos, a Red Bull Funbox and a special wallride endsection. At springlike weather with bright sunshine more and more riders and spectators met in the chill area and waited eagerly for the announcement of the head to head battles!
Saturday May 7th – Snowboard battle
After a short training in the morning where the ridersalready showed some massive Double Backflips, speaker MC Lix announced the names for the battles and head judge Gigi Scheidl gave the last instructions for the contest format. And then the action already started: the snowboarders shredded pair-wise in their head to head battles in the categories rookies, girls and men and threw some massive doubles, rodeos and 900s in all variations over the contest setup.
In the category men, the two Slovenians Matevz Pristavec and Aljosa Krivec placed first and second, the third place went to the Austrian Stephan Wimmer! At the girls competition, Klara Dinold (AUT) won this time and was really happy about her victory: “To ride a contest at the Dachstein was already great but to win then… I’m so stoked!” She won before her friends Daniela Kaindl (AUT) and Lisa Veith (AUT).
The snowboard rookies also showed freestyle action on the highest level! The judges and spectators could marvel at huge grabed backflips, massive FS and BS 720s. The victory of the day went to Florian Prietl (AUT) who won before Roland Tschoder (AUT) and Marc Schumy (AUT).
After the contest the action went on in Ramsau. At the Ramsau Beach recreation park, the riders relaxed with a tasty barbecue and good music by Dj Alex and waited for the prizegiving, sponsered by Blue Tomato and QParks. After the winners of the day got their prizes, the overall tour winners got crowned.
In the category rookies the Austrian Roland Tschoder got 1st and was happy about a brand new mobile phone with a one-year contract by Red Bull Mobile. He won before Florain Prietl (AUT) and Marc Schumy (AUT).
In the category girls the tour leader Daniela Kaindl (AUT) got the crown of the tour and was really pleased with the nice goodies as well as 300 Euros in cash. With her victory of the day Klara Dinold (AUT) placed second before the QParks Tour doctor Lisa Veith (AUT)!
At the men’s competition, the 6th place at the finals was enough for Jonel Fricke (GER) to win the overall tour ranking: he cashed in 1,800 Euros and was really happy about it: “The level at the finals on the Dachstein glacier was unbeatable! Because I’ve injured my knee two weeks ago I shredded the contest safely and made the 6th place. Nevertheless this was enough to win the overall QParks Tour with some points ahead – Yeeaahhh!!!” Snowboard talent Victor Szigeti (HUN) placed second in the tour before Stephan Wimmer (AUT). Both were also rewarded with nice prizemoney as well as goodies of the sponsors!
Sunday May 8th – Freeski battle
On Sunday freeski legend Nico Zacek was speaker at the contest and he had the honor of announcing the head to head battles. After some short explanations by head judge Stefan Hörist the contest action already started: despite the wind the freeskiers showed some massive flips and spins in all variations in the hard-fought battles!
In the category men the Austrian champion Patrick Hollaus won before Raphael Schweiger (AUT) and Max Brandauer (AUT). The best trick went to Felix Prankl (AUT) who showed a Double Cangaroo in the finals and therefore won 200 Euros as well as a one-year subscription of the Downdays Mag.
In the category girls, the Slovakian Natália Slepecká showed some nice 540s and with her sticked 720, she clearly won before the two Austrians Monika Oberreiter and Maria Blersch.
Also the level in the category rookies was amazing: The young guns showed some nice 720s and 900s, where Julius Gerhard (AUT) could convince the judges most and ranked 1stin the end: He won before Daniel Walchhofer (AUT) and Marco Ladner (AUT).
After the contest, the action for the freeskiers also went on at the Ramsau Beach recreational park with a tasty barbecue and good music, sponsered by Blue Tomato and QParks.
In the category freeski rookies the winner of the day, Julius Gerhard, also won the crown of the QParks Tour and therefore got a brand new mobile phone with a one-year cost free contract from Red Bull Mobile. He placed 1st before Daniel Walchhofer (AUT) and Lukas Eisl (AUT).
In the category girls, Maria Blersch was the winner of the Tour and was obviously very happy: “I am super happy to be the winner of the overallranking, it was really a nice tour with cool tour stops and a breathtaking finale!” The second place of the tour went to Monika Oberreiter before NatáliaSlepecká, who got 90 points for her victory!
In the category men, the winner of the tour was already fixed – Max Brandauer was uncatchable at the finals and is the deserved winner of the Tour. He also got the most votes during the whole QParks Tour voting and won a two-weeks stay at the famous Balicamp for being the most popular rider: “Because my victory of the Tour was already clear I could start into the day very relaxed and therefore I could enjoy the whole hype as well. That I won the whole Tour and the Balicamp as well is just so awesome and I’m so glad about it. I can’t wait doing my first surf turns in Bali.”
On both days the riders partied hard: On Saturday all snowboarders met at the Horsefeathers after party in the Cult Club in Schladming and on Sunday all freeskiers popped bottles at the adidas eyewear after party in the Friends Bar. All riders are already looking forward to a new QParks Tour in the upcoming season!
